Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Caucus (EDICa) has been commissioned by UKRI to undertake research on the impact of the UK's visa and immigration system on the diversity of the UK's research and innovation workforce. They have launched a time-limited call for evidence (note: student visas are out of scope). Anyone with experience in the following three areas is invited to complete the survey:

  • Researchers/innovators with lived experience of applying, or considered applying, for a UK work visa in the last 5 years (in particular, anyone who has considered moving to the UK to take up employment in the R&I sector but was put off by the visa and immigration system);
  • PIs/supervisors who have supported or hired a researcher/innovator with protected characteristics requiring a UK work visa in the last 5 years (in particular, anyone who has tried to hire someone who either couldn't get a visa or pulled out due to visa and immigration requirements);
  • Unpublished research already conducted on the impact of the UK visa system on researchers/innovators with protected characteristics.
