Cranes & Hoist:- The service modules (pre-assembled pipes, ducts and wire trays on a metal frame) continue to be delivered, before carefully being lowered by crane through an access hole into the lower floors. This will be followed by plant deliveries.

Visits:- The Mathematics Department tour took place on the 14/92012.

Future works for September

Steel Bridge, Stair & Columns:- A scaffold mounted on a rail system has been erected now that the steel staircases in the north building have been installed in the atrium. All steel bridges have been fixed into position in the south minor and south major atriums. This will followed in w.c. 24/9/2012 with the remaining steel above ground stair installation.

Blockwork:- Perimeter walls in the basement and mezzanine are complete leaving a number of walls to service rooms to complete.

4th Floor:- The remaining pour on the south was concreted on 7/9/2012. These slabs consist of a set of precast concrete planks (temporary supported) with an insitu concrete topping with strands (steels within tubes) which are stressed (tightened at the ends) after the concrete has set hard.

5th Level Roof:- The roof is expected to be complete towards the end of September, the last major pour was completed on 20/9/2012.

Waterproofing & Flat Roof:- The ground floor perimeter of the building has been largely waterproofed, with insulation and firm topping laid on the north block on the south side. The area on the south block south side is also in preparation for cladding to start.

Cladding:- The units on the north block have been erected adjacent to the Woodstock Road and are progressing along the north elevation for the first two levels (half of elevation). The south is expected to start in the coming weeks.

Ceiling insulation:- Plasterboard contractor CG Reynolds have continued with basement ceiling insulation in the north and south buildings, and are now progressing on the 1st floor with metal studwork.

Lifts:- The lift contractor Thyssen have completed the first car lift in the north. The passenger lift in the north is expected to start by October.

Mechanical & Electrical:- Services contractor Crownhouse continue with internal drainage at the basement and mezzanine levels. Ductwork & sprinklers have also commenced in the north and service modules continue to be lifted and fixed in the ceiling of the basement. (a service module comprises of a light steel frame to which mainly pipework and containment have been fixed in the factory. These are then joined on site with connecting pieces).
