The Department of Materials here in Oxford are advertising two funded PhD opportunities, open to both Home and Overseas students:
- Thermomigration of Hydrogen in Reactor Fuel Cladding Materials (Prof. Felix Hofmann and Prof. Emilio Martinez-Paneda)
- Machine Learning and Crystal Plasticity Modelling of Hydrides in Zr-alloy Materials for Nuclear Fuel Cladding (Prof. Ed Tarleton)
The studentships are jointly funded by Rolls-Royce and the Materials 4.0 CDT. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Physics, Material Science, Enginering or Maths. Excellent analytical skills, enthusiasm for experimental work, outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a strong teamwork ethic are all essential.
