Cranes & Fork Lifts:- TC1 tower crane is planned to be dismantled on the 17th & 18th April. Any remaining works will then be carried out with the use of roof cranes or mobile cranes. The metal hoarding along the site access road will gradually be substituted with A shaped bases and harris fencing as greater access is required.

Entrance:- The pedestrian entrance has been moved from Gate 1 to Gate 7 while services are being installed adjacent to Somerville College.

Future works for April

Architectural Metalwork:- External grille vents are expected to be delivered wc 26/4/2013. Roof terrace balustrade brackets continue to be installed. Stair balustrading are largely installed to core areas.

Waterproofing & Flat Roof:- All roofs have been waterproofed and largely paved where required. Sedum (green roof) planting is planned to commence in April.

Entrance:- All the long main beams have been installed and the gridwork has commenced.

Cladding:- Cladding units to both north and south are virtually installed apart from those left out for access.

Glass Atrium Roofs:- The north atrium roof is complete. The south minor atrium has glass substantially installed, while south major atrium has over 85% glazed.

Reconstituted Stone & Brise Soleil:- The Stone contractor Techrete are largely complete on the north and are 80% on the south block with the stone fins that surround the windows, with a priority to those above the Entrance. Brise Soleil is following to both blocks.

Lifts:- The lift contractor Thyssen have completed both car lifts & both passenger lifts, and is currently engaged on the goods lift .

Mechanical & Electrical:- Both the power and water are now connected and the gas supply is expected imminently. Commissioning has commenced and will test and balance each system.

Internal Fitout:- All zones have commenced on the north and south buildings. Decoration is continuing in the north, while floor boxes, door installation continue in the south. The birdcage scaffold is expected to be removed wc 8/4/2013. from the large lecture theatre.

Screed:- The sand and cement subfloor to make the area level flat in readiness for stone paving has been laid in the main entrance area. This was mixed by a machine and pumped to the required area.

Joinery:- Timber balustrade panels have started in the south minor atrium.

Smoke Curtains:- Smoke curtain boxes have been installed in the north. A smoke curtain, when deployed in the event of a fire, will direct smoke away from escape routes.

External Works:- The crane base has been broken up and removed. Drainage connections are near to completion around the building. Hard landscaping will now begin progressively to the perimeter of the building, while co-ordinating with cladding finishes.
