We will be holding our Annual Institute celebration on Monday 19th October 2026 from 5:00pm to approximately 7:00pm in Lecture Room 1 in the Andrew Wiles building. As part of the event, we will also be holding our Awards Ceremony, where we will celebrate the achievements of fellow students and our staff though the Examination Prizes and Departmental Teaching Prize Awards for the 2025 – 2026 academic year.
We are pleased to announce that there will also be a talk from Professor James Maynard.
James Maynard is Professor of Number Theory at the Mathematical Institute in Oxford. He was an undergraduate in Cambridge, did his DPhil in Oxford, and has done postdoctoral work in Montreal, Berkeley, Princeton and Oxford before joining the faculty at the Mathematical Institute in Oxford. Professor Maynard was awarded the prestigious Fields Medal in 2022, the highest honour a young mathematician can attain and especially hard to win as the medals are only awarded every four years to mathematicians under the age of forty.
Following the presentation, there will be a drink reception, providing an opportunity to celebrate together.
