The Parallel Academy, founded by bestselling science writer Simon Singh, is on a mission to increase the number and diversity of excellent mathematicians.
Parallel currently supports 1,000 bright and enthusiastic secondary students at UK state schools. They receive weekly online tutorials that stretch them beyond the GCSE curriculum. The youngest students are in Year 7, while the oldest are in Year 11, often working at Olympiad-level. Indeed, last year, 20% of their Key Stage 4 students qualified for the UKMT Olympiad paper.
These exceptional students need strong tutors, and Simon is actively recruiting to expand Parallel’s roster of tutors.
Parallel’s approach to tutoring is interactive and collaborative, so Simon is looking for tutors who can inspire and engage small groups of talented mathematicians to work through challenging maths concepts.
If you think you could be a Parallel tutor, then please apply via this link [docs.google.com]. You will be asked to outline your tutoring experience. Parallel pays tutors £30/hour.
If you do not have much experience, then it is still worth completing the form. Parallel offers a range of training and development opportunities for less experienced tutors. Many of those who have previously completed these short courses now work for Parallel in paid tutoring roles.
