I am a tech and maths-focused entrepreneur, with multiple current Chair, NED and CXO positions. My sectors range from aerospace, defence, finance, tech, sport and even car parking! I gained a mathematics degree from Oxford University before a 5-year Short Service Commission with The Parachute Regiment. And subsequently studied an MBA at IESE Business School in Barcelona. I've spent 10 years delivering financial solutions for top multinationals at Barclays, HBOS and Lloyds Banks, working on the Trading Floor and focusing on derivatives and structured capital transactions. I subsequently led Lloyds Banking Group’s award-winning London 2012 B2B Olympic and Paralympic Games sponsorship activation. At various other times I have been a Professional Expedition Leader, a Youth Development Officer, worked full-time in the charity sector (sports leadership qualifications) and even programmed the front end routing system of IBM's first internet-enabled PC, back in 1988.
Currently, my main entrepreneurial role is with a drone business, Flare Bright Ltd. I chair CSP Ltd, which does all the security and stewarding for major sports events in the UK, and has the Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool FC and Wimbledon contracts, to name a few. I also am on the Board of a financial software consultancy company, which implements risk management software to the main players in the Asset Management industry. On the mathematics front, I used to sit on the EPSRC’s Mathematical Sciences Strategic Advisory Team, and am currently on the advisory group of the new UK National Academy of Mathematics and is on the Finance Board of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications. I am a member of the LMS, and Fellow of the IMA and RSS.
