Reward and Recognition

We support all the various recognition schemes available within the University to highlight and reward staff who have delivered excellence, despite all the odds, and at times under extreme pressure. 

More information about each policy can be found on the University’s HR Support pages, here’s a brief summary of the different schemes available.

Recognition Scheme

Under this scheme, awards of £200 (before tax) can be made throughout the year to recognise one-off outstanding contributions made by staff in Grades 1-10 (PSS and ECRs).

Awards for Excellence

The Awards for Excellence scheme allows for the award of incremental (and non-incremental) payments through an annual gathered field review at departmental level to recognise outstanding contributions for the preceding calendar year. 

University Thank You Board

The University has introduced a University-wide Thank You Board hosted on the Staff Gateway. The platform aims to enable, encourage and support recognition across the University and from all staff groups. Say thank you here.

Recognition of Distinction

The Recognition of Distinction scheme is an annual exercise to confer the title of full professor at the University of Oxford. Find out more here about How to Apply.

Professorial Merit Pay 

The Professorial Merit Pay scheme is a biennial exercise for all those employed by the University with the title of full professor (except those with clinical contracts). 

Vice Chancellor's Awards

The Vice Chancellor celebrates achievement across the University with annual/biennial awards across a range of categories: diversity (staff and students), education (staff only), innovation and engagement (staff only) and environmental sustainability (staff and students).
