The piling works are now well underway for the new Schwarzman Building to the west of Maths. Piling is the process of driving pile foundations into the ground beneath a building that is under or to be constructed (in case you hadn't guessed from the noise). The piling work will continue for 8-9 more weeks and result in 537 piles with a combined length equal to the height of Everest.

Once piling is complete the excavation will commence and run through to July. The construction is expected to be completed by June 2025. We will keep you informed.

The picture below shows the plan for the piles. The piles marked in green that are nearest Maths are the ones already done (and the grey line of piles between them are the piles of our own building so no further piles are needed there).
