The Department is pleased to announce that the awards for Contribution to the Department are made to:
Rhiannon Savage: For their contributions as one of the main organisers of Mathematrix and promoting inclusivity through the discussion of issues affecting minorities in Maths.
Matthew Cotton: For their contributions in organising the biweekly Junior Applied Mathematics Seminar (JAMS), as well as setting up and running the 3-Minute Thesis competition. They have been a key presence in the department in helping with prospective students, hosting visiting students, and helping out at Graduate Open Day.
James Harris: For their contributions in organising a weekly cake rota that brings together many people in the department at coffee time. They have also volunteered with many outreach/training events in the department, including a Fridays@2 session on mental health, and the Maths Festival.
The department would like to thank all awardees for their contributions to the department. A thank you also to all other students who have contributed to the department in various ways over the past year.
The Head of Department has kindly agreed to present the awardees with their prizes at this Friday’s Happy Hour and we hope as many of you as possible will be able to come along – and if you need any further persuasion, the Happy Hour will be free!
