The construction work for the Humanities Building next door continues apace, and is now slightly ahead of schedule. Some of the plant space and services for that building connect from, or are based in, the basement area below Maths. In order to move some more noisy works from next term, these works have been rescheduled to start in December.

On 4/12/2023 work will commence on cutting a 3m wide temporary opening from the construction site into the basement car park area. These works will run up to Christmas and will be scheduled around the bookings in the Mezzanine to minimise disruption to activities - in particular the most noisy works are expected on 4/12/2023 when they make the initial cuts.

With the temporary opening in place, work will run through 2024 to add relevant plant equipment and connect up to services at that basement level. There will be some occasions during those works that may create noise from drilling - they will restrict those drilling works to 7am-9am and 5pm-7pm, and will generally liaise with the department to minimise disruption and respond and adjust to our feedback. Thank you for your patience.
