The IMO2024 in Bath July 11-22 still needs a few more volunteers to support the event. Students (undergraduates and postgraduates) may be interested.
The roles still open are (i) Team Guide and (ii) Invigilator. Being a Team Guide is a 9-day commitment and an invigilator is a 3-day commitment. Volunteers must be 18 years old at the time of IMO, and Team Guides must have a DBS check (at the expense of IMO2024).
A team guide supports a particular team. Language skills are an advantage but are not essential. A team guide must have a helpful and friendly disposition, and be a reliable person able to navigate minor emergencies. An invigilator is not only involved in monitoring the exams, they are also involved in the duplication of contestants' scripts.
Internal UK travel will be reimbursed, accommodation is supplied and subsistence is included. There are many speakers at IMO during the period when Team Guides will be present. Fields Medal winners Maryna Viazovska and Terry Tao will give lectures. Also, Grant Sanderson (3 Blue 1 Brown) and Simon Singh will speak.
Please volunteer at https://www.imo2024.uk/ as soon as possible.
