How Students’ Understanding of Calculus Changes Having Studied Preliminary Courses in Undergraduate Mathematics

Volunteers needed for a study into the differences in how mathematics students understand and approach calculus, comparing pre-undergraduate] level students to those who have studied preliminary courses in analysis and calculus at the undergraduate level.
We are looking for 3 or 4 volunteers in each of the following categories:
- students who took Mathematics at A-Level or equivalent, e.g IB, AP, etc. not necessarily studying Mathematics at undergraduate level
- Students who have taken the Mathematics Prelims courses in Analysis and Calculus
Participants in this study will take part in an interview where they will be asked questions about their understanding of and thoughts about calculus related key words and presented with some calculus problems to solve. The interviews will take place in person and be audio recorded, they should last no longer than 1 hour and can be arranged in a suitable location for both parties. Participants will be reimbursed for their time.
