This term, one of the third year Physics students is running a competitive, high-stakes treasure hunt as a fundraising event for the charity Christians Against Poverty. They would like to invite and encourage many of you to take part as you would be very well equipped to solve the puzzles involved. The essential details are as follows:
Participants may enter in teams of any number. The prize for the winning team will be £400 plus half the entrance fees paid by all teams. The other half of the fees will be donated to Christians Against Poverty to support their work fighting poverty in the UK. The entry fee is only £5 per team.
The hunt consists of 8 clues, hidden in accessible locations around Oxford. Each clue contains a math, physics, or cryptography-based puzzle, the solution to which contains all the necessary information to find the next clue. The final clue gives the location of the treasure. The first team to find the treasure and message me with the 'victory code' (a particular sequence of ASCII characters) will be awarded the prize. The hunt will run from Saturday of Week 1, on which the first clue will be released to all participants who have paid the entry fee via a WhatsApp group, until a winner is found.
If you would like to sign up, please get one of your team members to email @email with the names and phone numbers of all your team members. You will then be added to a shared tracker document logging all participants (this is in the interest of transparency, to assure you that this is not a scam). Once you have paid the entrance fee, you and your team members will be added to the WhatsApp group where the first clue will be released on Saturday of Week 1.
