A reminder that this week’s Fridays@2 session in L1 will feature a panel discussion on "What is it like to do a PhD in Maths?"
If you've ever wondered what doing mathematical research is really like, or whether a DPhil might be right for you, this is a chance to hear directly from current DPhil students about their experiences.
We'll discuss what a typical day looks like, how researchers choose and approach problems, what they enjoy and find challenging about research, and how they decided to pursue a DPhil. We'll also talk about the DPhil application process and tips for prospective applicants, as well as how AI is changing mathematical research and what this might mean for those considering a DPhil in the coming years.
There will be plenty of opportunities to ask your own questions, so do come along, whether you're seriously considering a DPhil or simply curious about what mathematical research involves.
