Research interests

I'm mainly interested in structure-preserving discretisations of PDEs arising in physics (e.g. continuum mechanics), including mixed finite element methods, Finite Element Exterior Calculus, and Finite Element Systems. A common thread running through these frameworks is the interplay between numerical analysis, differential geometry, and topology, which bridges different communities and gives rise to stimulating exchanges.

Of particular interest is the preservation of properties of solutions carrying topological/geometric information, such as (magnetic) helicity in (magneto)hydrodynamics. This plays an important role in ensuring that numerical approximations are physically feasible, and hence more reliable in practice.
