LU LIU's main research areas lie in the calculus of variations, dynamics and their applications in Ericksen-Leslie theory for nematic and cholesteric liquid crystals. He is also interested in Landau de Genne's theory for liquid crystals. His current research project is concerned with property of topological charges under the condition of different elasticity constant and Ericksen-Leslie theory of liquid crystals.
