We were asked to make some films for the Central University's social media (and ours). So James Munro got to work. Pizza next.

Oxford’s mathematical journal for students is now open for submissions. The Invariant is a conversation between students and researchers, between specialists of different fields. We aim to publish articles, readable by undergraduates, that start from common ground and dive into the problems that define a mathematical area. This issue’s theme is measurement.

Graduate students support the running of the department in many ways, from presenting at Open Days and outreach events to running social events or seminars for Research Groups or for the wider department.  We would like to recognise this contribution by making an award/a small number of awards annually.

This week we created a LinkedIn page to add to our successful social media, so all support and feedback is very welcome. It will mainly follow the pattern of our other social media, but with sections on vacancies and alumni.

Mfano Africa is a mentorship platform launched in August 2020 which helps pre-PhD mathematics students to improve the quality of their postgraduate applications through research experience and professional training workshops.  Following on from the programme’s success last year, Oxford Mathematics are fortunate to once again collaborate with Mfano Africa and its Founder and Director, Geoffrey Mboya, who completed his DPhil in Oxford earlier this year.
