The Employment Approaches Project is running further PI focus groups to explore employment options for research-funded staff on fixed-term contracts. The remaining focus group dates are Wednesday, 20th May and Thursday, 21st May, both in person at the Life and Mind Building. PI input will help shape future policy and practice.

The UKRI funded national mentoring scheme for early career researchers in mathematics, statistics and computer science that identify as LGBTQ+ is looking for mentees and mentors.

The scheme will run from May to October, starting with a training session on Wednesday 27th May 2026 to help get started. We expect that the mentoring partnership will run for 6 months with 3 (virtual) meetings suggested.

In the social media caption to the Short Stories 2 film above, we joked about never playing games with mathematicians, especially Foosball, as a result of which Trinity College Cambridge Foosball Society (Instagram) have asked for a 'Varsity' game. If anyone is interested get in touch with them (and let Dyrol know). Presumably Trinity being Trinity, they are all mathematicians anyway.
