Silver Group has confirmed a decision to rebalance the Bodleian Libraries’ services, in light of updated Government guidance. The Bodleian will continue to focus on remote services, and the physical reading rooms in the Old Bodleian and Cairns Library will continue to be open providing over 600 seats across three bookable sessions each day.

Next Tuesday, 8th December, Roger wll be presented with his Nobel Prize at 1pm by the Swedish Ambassador in the Swedish Embassy, London. You can watch the stream here. From 8am the same morning Roger's Nobel Lecture will also be streamed. The lecture was filmed in L1 in the Andrew Wiles Building two weeks ago. We are rolling out more Undergraduate Lectures on YouTube this Autumn and Winter to give an insight into (online) life in Oxford Mathematics. These include First Year lectures from the Analysis and Geometry courses, Second Year lectures on Linear Algebra & Probability and Third Year lectures on the Geometry of Surfaces and the History of Mathematics.

The University’s expectation is that most students will be in residence from the start of the 2020/21 academic year. Nevertheless, it is recognised there is a need to consider individual student circumstances in a sensitive and supportive manner. Additional advice has therefore been provided on how applications to reside outside the University limits will be managed during the pandemic. Established in 1882, OUSS is the oldest student-run science society in the world. For those who are not familiar with what we do, ordinarily, at this point in term we would be busy hosting speakers from a variety of backgrounds and organising social events. Due to the coronavirus outbreak, this term we have moved online, and virtual events are well underway.
