The outreach team at the Mathematical Institute is launching a new mentoring programme and is looking to recruit mentors for the upcoming pilot.

Oxford Unbounded is an online mentoring programme to help students achieve top grades at Maths GCSE/National 5. Mentors will tutor groups of 4-5 students on a weekly basis during the summer between Y10 and Y11 and then continue to provide support on a less frequent basis during Y11. The pilot programme will run from June 2026 to April 2027 with training sessions prior to this. All teaching materials will be provided, however, mentors will be expected to review students’ pre-session work and to adapt sessions to fit the needs of their group.

This work will be paid at an hourly rate which is currently £18.80 plus 12.07% rolled-up holiday pay. This pay rate covers mentoring sessions, prep time, and training sessions - a provisional schedule can be found on the application form. You will need the right to work in the UK.

If you are interested in applying to be a mentor, please complete an application form, which can be found here. The deadline for submitting an application is 09:00am Monday 23 February 2026. Late submissions will not be accepted. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to complete a mentoring-based task that will inform the final selection process.

Please contact outreach@maths.ox.ac.uk if you have any questions or if you would like more details about the programme.
