Shane McGowan of the Pogues died last week. Aside from all the articles about self-destructive genius and the relentless playing of 'Fairytale of New York' over the next few weeks, it's worth remembering that the Pogues' first three albums are well worth a listen.

Incidentally he went to the same private school (Westminster) as Conrad Shawcross though he was expelled for possessing and selling drugs. Shane that is, not Conrad.

We are Oxford Global, the Oxford student- and alumni-run social enterprise dedicated to expanding access to educational events and equipping young people with the tools they need to develop global perspectives and address global challenges. We run a variety of events, and for 2024 we are looking for DPhil students keen to travel and teach under a subject stream in our event 'the Academic Summit for Young Leaders (ASYL)'.

Joshua, together with fellow authors  Paul Harper and ex Oxford Mathematician Thomas Woolley, has been awarded the Griffiths Medal from the Operational Research Society.
