I am part of the IT Team at the Mathematical Institute.
My job title, "Full-Stack Development Lead", is a fancy way of saying "web developer" – i.e. I build websites and web-based software.
I'm currently working from home Mon-Tue, and in the office Wed-Fri.
I look after the following sites/applications:
- Mathematical Institute website (Drupal)
- Clay Maths Institute (CMI) website (WordPress - developed by One Ltd)
- Courses system (Moodle)
- Workflow system (Drupal + Maestro)
- Teaching database (Laravel + Filament)
- Departmental teaching stint database (Laravel)
- Door entry system (Laravel + Salto)
- Electronic notice boards (JavaScript)
- IT departmental asset register (web2py)
- IT team wiki (MediaWiki)
- Some other IT tools (phpMyAdmin, phpLDAPadmin)
- The VMs hosting all of the above (Ganeti, Puppet)
Before I joined the department in February 2023, I was a Senior Developer at Alberon for 15 years, where I specialised in Laravel and WordPress development, system administration (Ubuntu, cPanel) and DevOps (Ansible, Terraform, AWS). Projects included turn IT on, the International Association of Hydrogeologists, Oxford's Department of Physics and Department of Computer Science, and many more.
I also created Laravel Breadcrumbs, an open source PHP package, and maintained it until April 2020. More recently, I built an open source task runner: Bin CLI.
