Professional Development

We highly encourage and support all members of staff wishing to undertake professional development activities throughout their employment with us. The University’s People and Organisational Development (POD) pages provide an abundance of learning resources for both professional and research staff.  Further detail of this can be found under the Learning and Development section.

Not sure where to start? Use this helpful self-diagnosis tool to evaluate your current skill levels and identify areas of improvement. You may also wish to use this tool in preparation for your PDR or CDR to help identify relevant training you may wish to attend.

Annual Reviews

All staff are entitled to regular conversations dedicated to their personal and career development, to give them the opportunity to agree goals and objectives, and to create an environment in which feedback can be heard and received. We refer to these conversations as PDR (Personal Development Review) for Professional Services Staff or CDR (Career Development Review) if you are a researcher.
