Find a Mentor

To help with your development, you may find value in working with a mentor who can provide confidential, non-judgemental, and constructive support. A mentor may be a sounding board, someone to help you work through your ideas, and someone to throw light on your path. They have usually faced similar challenges in the past and work within a more senior role outside of your current hierarchical relationship. You can apply for a mentor via the University’s Careers Support Network. 

Find a Coach

If you are facing a challenging issue or need help working your way through a goal, a coach can create an environment that encourages you to consider your available options and help make progress. They do not offer advice or guidance or impose their own agenda – instead, they facilitate a conversation and are trained to ask you questions that encourage self-reflection and help you talk through your inner thought processes. You can apply for a coach via the Oxford University Coaching Network.
