Learning and Development

Whilst working at the Mathematical Institute, you are highly encouraged to identify relevant training courses to help develop yourself both professionally and personally.

Please do always discuss training opportunities with your line manager, especially if time off work may be required to attend longer courses.

The University manages internal courses through the CoSy course management platform, with training delivered by a number of different specialist departments to help you grow in your role and give you the competencies required to carry out your job effectively. Here are some of the main training providers across the University:

LinkedIn Learning

All staff with Single Sign-On credentials have free access to LinkedIn Learning. Here you will find a plethora of online, video-based courses covering a wide range of topics for beginners through to experts. As well as suggesting courses tailored to your interests, it also allows you to bookmark courses and keeps track of your progress throughout.

External Training

You are more than welcome to identify external training courses too. You can discuss these with your line manager at any time and include them in your annual review.

People and Organisational Development

The People and Organisational Development (POD) team co-ordinate learning and development to support personal development, leadership and management, as well as team and organisational  change - across all staff groups.
