Departmental buddy

All new members of professional services staff will be assigned a buddy within the department ahead of their arrival. Your buddy will be a member of staff from outside your immediate team, acting as a point of contact to help answer general questions about the department and its working culture and to help build your network at the MI.

HR will introduce you to your buddy. You can then expect to meet with your buddy within the first two weeks of your appointment, with a follow-up meeting scheduled after six weeks in post. After this point, your buddy will enquire as to how frequently you would like to meet.

Central Induction

A very useful induction is held centrally, covering the history and structure of the University. you should received an invite automatically, but you can also book a place here; Induction for Professional Services Staff.

Coffee Mornings

PSS are invited to gather for coffee in the Common Room at 11am on the first Thursday and third Tuesday of every month - a great chance to get to know people from other teams, with a wonderful view.

Termly PSS session

We aim for all PSS to come together once a term; we may have a speaker or some other professional development activity, or simply share some downtime together over a cup of tea or lunch.
