Whitehead Library
The Mathematical Institute Whitehead Library is closing in summer 2026.
Central library services have begun re-cataloguing the books prior to them being moved and merged into the central library resources. Online journal subscriptions will persists and be managed by central library services in future. Books suggestions can continue to be made, but now via the central library services system - they indicate almost all reasonable suggestions are normally then acquired.
Books can continue to be borrowed and returned as normal for now. Access for new readers is no longer being granted.
When the service has fully migrated to the central library services any of the books that could previously be borrowed from the Whitehead Library will be available to borrow from the central service. Books can be requested to any Bodleian library - the nearest is in the Schwarzman Centre next door to Maths and is open to all university members.
