Race equality
At Oxford, we foster an inclusive environment where individuals of all racial and ethnic backgrounds thrive, feel valued, and achieve their full potential in mathematics. Through dedicated initiatives, comprehensive support, and clear policies, we build a community that celebrates diversity and addresses racial inequalities.
Our approach encompasses promoting representation, providing targeted support, implementing inclusive policies, and embracing diverse mathematical traditions and perspectives – both historical and contemporary.
Our commitment to race equality
The department promotes racial equality through visible advocacy and meaningful action. Initiatives focus on increasing representation, ensuring inclusive decision-making, and creating lasting cultural change. Our Race Equality Action Plan outlines specific objectives for achieving these aims.
Zero tolerance for discrimination
The University of Oxford and the Mathematical Institute maintain a zero-tolerance policy for racism and discrimination. Clear, enforceable policies are actively monitored to ensure everyone feels respected and valued.
