Setting the forward on the mail gateway

The migration of mail from the Maths Zimbra system to the central university Nexus system has begun in March 2025. At that point self-service setting mail forwarding on the Maths system has been disabled. If you have not yet been migrated to Nexus but would like a forward on your Maths mail to a different ox.ac.uk email address please contact @email .

You can define an address (or several addresses) for mail forwarding by editing your personal data via the web interface to your profile. The basic steps are:

• login on the main maths website at https://www.maths.ox.ac.uk
• access your profile page by clicking on 'edit profile' near the top left
• scroll down to the 'Mail forwarding' setting and enter an ox.ac.uk forwarding email address in the relevant box (forwarding outside the university is no longer permitted)
• scroll to the bottom and click the save button

Note the above mechanism puts in the forward on the main departmental mail gateway server and so is very robust, i.e. if the mail service is running the forwarding will always occur, otherwise mail will wait until the service returns and then be forwarded.

If you would like to keep a copy on the maths mailbox, please add [username]@zimbra-02.maths.ox.ac.uk as one of the forwarding addresses.

If you no longer want a forward on the account clear/empty the setting and save your profile via the button at the bottom of the profile page.
